Stephen T. Carter
Co-founder of Carter Enterprise Group

Carter Stephen T. Carter has over 35 years experience as a corporate executive, entrepreneur and consultant.

Stephen Carter bought a franchise to Right Management Consultants after a 20-year career at Hallmark Cards Incorporated. He grew the staff of three to a five office enterprise covering four states with 110 consultants/staff. During his tenure with Right Management Consultants, Stephen consulted with senior executives on talent management, leadership development, and business strategy issues. Stephen sold his franchise in 2006.

While at Hallmark, Carter’s responsibilities were principally in human resources. His most recent position was directing Divisional Human Resources for the Ambassador brand, a $450 million organization with 5,000 employees. Other human resource assignments included a strategic organizational development role for Corporate Human Resources; Area Personnel Manager for the Northeast Region of the Country; staffing assignments and marketing positions.

Notable accomplishments include the development and execution of a succession planning process and the creation of a comprehensive management development program to support Succession Planning. In addition, he was responsible for the development and implementation of a state-of-the-art, interactive, video-training program for 4,000 field representatives.

Community/Board Engagements:

  • Past Chairman of the Board and currently National Liaison of Junior Achievement of Middle America, a non-profit organization that teaches business principles and economics to more than 47,000 school age children within the Kansas City metropolitan area.
  • A licensed pilot and provides voluntary medical air transportation for people in need for four non-profit agencies. One of those agencies, Angel Flight Central, is headquartered in Kansas City, and is past President of the organization.
  • Board member of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. The Foundation has worked to improve the quality of life in our region through an active partnership with donors and others who believe, that positive change can occur through effective charitable giving.
  • Member of the governing board for the Athena PowerLink Program, helping women business owners expand profitably through the use of professional advisory panels.
  • Member of the U.S. Bank, Kansas City Region, Board of Directors.
  • Mentor for the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program. This program is dedicated to growing and nurturing mentoring relationships by providing an enduring link between knowledgeable business veterans and established entrepreneurs.



  • Steve acquired the Heartland Region Right Management Consultants office in 1990, which has grown from a three-person organization to over 100 employees in five cities. Projects have included Career Transition, Organizational Effectiveness, Corporate Restructuring, Executive Coaching, Leadership Development, and Mergers and Acquisitions consulting.
  • In addition to the above, Steve is majority stockholder of Quantum Market Research, Inc., an Internet based organization specializing in instantaneous survey research.
  • He is founder of The Prospect Group, Inc., a merger and acquisition intermediary specializing in Internet mergers. The organization focuses on transactions throughout the United States.


Education/Military Service:

  • Steve has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Nichols College. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, and was awarded the Bronze Star and several Vietnam Campaign medals.
